No. 5 BYU-Hawaii hosts two Alaska squads this week

LAIE, Hawaii (Aug. 27, 2013) – The No. 5 ranked BYU-Hawaii women's volleyball team starts the season with two home matches this week as they host the University of Alaska Anchorage on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Alaska Fairbanks on Friday at the same time.

Alaska Anchorage enters the match coming off a 16-10 season in 2012 and Alaska Fairbanks returns seven lettermen, including three starters.

The Seasiders are coming off another successful season at 25-4 with a trip to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament and a perfect Pacific West Conference season (16-0).

Returning are All-Americans Shih Ting Chen (Stella) and setter Ying Chun Chen (Michelle). Fellow All-PacWest honorees middle blocker Erh Fang Hsu (Ariel) and libero Melanie Manutai are also back.
