SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 3 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis moved on to the quarterfinals of the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships with a 5-0 win over No. 33 Indiana University (Pa.) on Wednesday at the Surprise Raquet and Tennis Complex.
No. 22 nationally ranked pairing of Maretta Tuionetoa and Jin Jin (Leah) Han grabbed the first point of the day for the Seasiders (31-1) with an 8-2 win over Luise Von Agris and Rachel Wood of the Crimson Hawks (19-8). No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Min (Karen) Liu followed with an 8-1 victory over Tanya Timko and Jarka Petercakova. BYU-Hawaii's Jade Griffin and Kanela Adamson finished the sweep in doubles with an 8-2 win on the third court over IUP's Sophie Butland and Alanna McFail.
Han quickly added the fourth point of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wood, while No. 1 Zhang grabbed the match ending point with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over No. 41 Timko on the first singles court.
BYU-Hawaii will face No. 13 Saint Mary's (TX) (21-1) tomorrow at 1 p.m. MST at the Surprise Raquet and Tennis Complex. Live stats will be available on the NCAA website.
