LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii women's soccer topped Tusculum in a 3-0 exhibition game on Thursday at the BYU-Hawaii soccer field.
Mackenzie Bean, Mackenzie Moore and Rachel Woods each scored goals in their first game as Seasiders. Gabrielle Jenson and Bean recorded one assist apiece. Jordan Newby led the Pioneers with six shots.
Mackenzie Moore started the offensive attack in the 13th minute with a high shot over the goal. Tusculum's only shot of the half came two minutes later when Jordan Newby's ball went wide left.
The Pioneers looked to even the game with three shots in the next five minutes, but they were unable to follow through. The Seasiders recorded five consecutive shots, with each going high or being blocked.
Bean got the ball to Moore just in time for her to lob it over the keeper and extend BYU-Hawaii's advantage to 2-0 in the 68th minute.
Due to the exhibition game, the teams played two mock-overtimes. After two shots on goal in the first overtime, Rachel Woods recorded the third Seasider goal off a rebound in the 95th minute.
BYU-Hawaii will play its next exhibition against Idaho St. in Honolulu on Aug. 25 at 4:30 p.m. HST.
