LAIE, Hawaii – No. 26 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis defeated No. 30 Holy Names 5-0 Saturday at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts to move to 7-3 on the year.
Simon Gullin and Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo opened the match with an 8-3 win against their Holy Names (3-4) opponents, Javier Luque and Ivan Parra. BYU-Hawaii's Ibrahim Kamadzha and Ian Galli added their own 8-3 victory over Hugo Colpart and Jonah Tahilan on court three. Chia-Hua Lu and Sterling Galli finished the sweep, defeating Matthew Halligan and Bernardo Moraes 8-5 in the first doubles court to put the Seasiders up 3-0.
Lu put BYU-Hawaii within a point of vitory with a 6-3. 6-1 victory over Ivan Parra on court five. Ucelay finished the match with a 6-3, 6-3 upset of No. 23 Halligan.
BYU-Hawaii will face Hawaii Hilo Monday at 2 p.m. HST at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
