AZUSA, Calif. – No. 21 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis defeated Sonoma State University 7-2 Saturday morning at the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Complex.
The Seasiders' (4-1) two losses came from their top two doubles teams. Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo and Simon Guillin lost in a tight 8-6 battle to Seawolves Blaine Mengert and Logan Liddell while Wei-Feng Lee and Peng Dai fell 8-5 to Sullivan Roche and Christian Francisco.
The Seasiders swept in singles with Karmadzhe leading the way with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Lee beat Mengert 6-2, 6-2, while Ucelay beat Liddell 6-0, 6-1. Guillin won 6-1, 6-1 and Dai and Volodymyr Kashytski both secured 6-2, 6-4 victories.
BYU-Hawaii will continue its road trip on Monday at 3 p.m. PDT against Concordia University Irvine.
