BYU-Hawaii beats McMurry 7-2 in first match in Texas

ABILENE, Tex. (Mar. 24, 2014) - The No. 19 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis team swept the doubles points and took four singles matches to down No. 41 McMurry University in Texas on Monday afternoon.

No. 17 ranked team of Martin Chojnacki and Yevhen Zakharov beat No. 16 Casjen Rico and Chris Breaux 8-4 in first doubles.

Chojnacki and Zakharov also won their singles matches. Chojnacki won second singles 6-3, 6-4 and Zakharov took the first singles round with a 6-0, 5-7, 6-0 win.

Peng Dai and Wei-Feng Lee won second doubles in an exciting 8-6 victory while Ibrahim Karmadzhe and Taylor De Hoyas took No. 3 doubles with a similar 8-6 win.

Karmadzhe won a thriller in third singles, 7-6(2), 1-6, 6-3. Lee fell in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-4.

Dai had another close one but pulled out a 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-4 win in the fifth position. Ian Galli dropped the sixth singles 6-3, 6-1.

The Seasiders will stay in the state of Texas and play the University of Dallas tomorrow.
