ST. GEORGE, Utah – BYU-Hawaii men's soccer tested Dixie State goalkeeper Bradley Trella, but he was able to answer the call and help secure a 1-0 victory for the Red Storm (6-1-1, 4-0-1 PacWest) on Thursday night at Hansen Stadium.

The Seasider's (3-6, 1-3 PacWest) Pawel Dregan took five shots, including three on frame, to lead BYU-Hawaii and the Seasiders had nine total shots on goal during the game. BYU-Hawaii played excellent defense limiting the Dixie State to seven shots with only two on frame, but Trella (6-1-1) earned the victory nine saves for the Red Storm.

In the 33rd minute of the game, Jason Arollo was able to gather in a deflection off a throw in and put the ball into the back netting from eight yards out to give Dixie State all the offense they needed.

Peter Puertas provided early pressure for BYU-Hawaii with a shot on goal in the sixth minute, but was unable to find the netting. The Seasiders had two more attempts in the first 10 minutes of the game, but they went wide and were blocked by the Red Storm's back line.

Dregan found some space in the 25th minute to put a shot on goal, but Trella corralled it to keep the match scoreless.

Jacob McRae and Besser Davila took two more cracks at beating Trella with shots in the 39th and 41st minutes, but Trella kept the clean sheet going into the half.

Matt Roberts loosed a shot after a BYU-Hawaii corner kick to start the second half, but his shot was off the mark high. Dregan found another crease in the defense for a shot in the 51st minute, but Trella was there waiting for it.

Kris Evans attempted to extend Dixie State's lead with a shot in the 57th minute, but Mark Stanley was there for BYU-Hawaii to keep the Seasiders within striking distance.

Dregan and Brody Berry each put heads on balls crossed from the corner in the 69th and 83rd minute, but the equalizer continued to evade BYU-Hawaii. Mason Reid had the Seasiders last chance to equalize in the 86th minute, but Trella gathered in the save to secure the victory.

BYU-Hawaii finishes its road trip on Saturday at Cal Baptist at 3 p.m. PDT. Live stats and video will be available online.
