REUNION, Fla. – Nicolas Herrera finished the first round of the NCAA Division II Championship tied for 35th Monday at the Reunion Watson Course.
Herrera finished with a 2-over 72, which broke his streak of 17 rounds under par. He started strong with a birdie on the first hole followed by pars on the next five holes to finish the front nine at 1 under. Herrera struggled to find the same success on the back nine with four bogeys, but he birdied his final hole to move back to 2 over for the round, seven strokes behind John Coultas of Florida Southern after Coultas carded a 5-under 65.
Herrera will tee off Tuesday at 1:28 p.m. EDT as he looks to move back up the leaderboards.
