STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 9 BYU-Hawaii men's golf was unable to keep pace in its final round and fell to 12th place in the final round Wednesday at the NCAA Division II Men's West/South Central Regional at Brookside Country Club.
The Seasiders finished with a 4-under 860 for the tournament. No. 14 Cal Baptist took first at 30 under par, and Stanislaus State in second at 19 under par.
Nicolas Herrera finished strong for BYU-Hawaii yet again with a 2-under 70 to move to 12 under for the tournament and tie for second with Kelley Sullivan of Chico State. Trevor Lampson of Cal Baptist claimed the individual title at 15 under.
Federico Clausen also finished his Seasider career strong with a 72 to stay at 2 under and tie for 31st on the leaderboard. Jacob Godfrey finished the final day tying for 72nd after shooting a 5-over 221. Dalton Stanger tied for 82nd at 6 over, while Alex Stulce finished at 13 over par.
Herrera claimed the top individual qualifier for the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships and will represent the Seasiders May 22-24 at Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
