Olcott leads Seasiders to second place finish

KAHUKU, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii women's cross country placed four in the top ten on the way to a second place finish at the HPU Invitational at the Kahuku Golf Course on Saturday.

Hawaii Pacific took home first place with 18 team points with BYU-Hawaii second with 39 and Hawaii Hilo in third place with 98 points.

Haley Olcott was the first Seasider to cross the finish line with a time of 23:33.66 in the 5k. Jessica Horrocks was a minute behind her to finish seventh.

Amanda Turnbull finished ninth (25:13.57) and Malacie Jorgensen was 10th (25:24.93) to round out the top-10 finishers for BYU-Hawaii.

Kami Dixon (13th, 25:46.27), Mackenzie Martinez (15th, 26:10.13) and Emily Thomas (16th, 26:14.12) were the last three Seasiders that counted towards the team score.

BYU-Hawaii will begin preparations for the PacWest Championship in two weeks on Nov. 7 in Fresno, California.
