Seasiders pick up second-place finish at Chaminade Invitational

HONOLULU (Sept. 7, 2013) – The BYU-Hawaii women's cross country team took second place at the Chaminade Invitational, beating out Hawaii Pacific, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, UH-Hilo and Chaminade but came up short against No. 7 Alaska Anchorage on Saturday morning.

Brooke Rohner took seventh place overall in the women's 5K with a time of 19:45 and Kami Dixon picked up a ninth-place finish with a 19:53 mark.

The Seasiders also nabbed the 14-17 spots with Julia Taylor (20:24), Madeleine Westman (20:33), Casey Carpenter (20:35) and Jessica Horrocks (20:36).

Alaska Anchorage took the top five spots for a perfect score and BYU-Hawaii posted 58 points, besting Hawaii Pacific's third-place finish with 80 points.

The team heads to Kaneohe for another meet next Saturday, Sept. 14, featuring another matchup with UH at Manoa.
