SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 1 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis rebounded from a slow start in doubles to defeat No. 23 Cal State L.A. 5-2 Friday in the semifinals of the PacWest Women's Tennis Championships at Surprise Tennis Complex.

No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Xin (Summer) Wen opened doubles play on a strong not for the Seaisders (26-0) with an 8-3 victory over No. 14 Nozomi Matsuoka and Kayleigh Hall. The Golden Eagles (13-7) took the remaining two doubles with Iris Raileanu and Isabella Lopez claiming court two 8-4 and Elizaveta Sokolova and Luciana Di Laura winning court three 8-5.

No. 11 Wen quickly tied the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Hall and No. 1 Zhang gave BYU-Hawaii the 3-2 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Matsuoka. Jeong-Min Jeon added a 6-1, 6-2 victory of her own on court six, while Michelle Li Sha Khoo sealed the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in No. 5 singles.

BYU-Hawaii will look to claim their 11th consecutive PacWest title in the finals Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MST against No. 5 Hawaii Pacific. The Sharks defeated No. 11 Academy of Art 5-1 in their semifinal on Friday. Live stats will be available online.
