ROME, Ga. – No. 1 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis concluded its road trip with a 6-0 sweep Friday of Shorter at the Walt Attaway Tennis Complex.
No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Xin (Summer) Wen earned an 8-0 victory over their Hawk (2-13) counterparts, while No. 13-ranked duo Min (Karen) Liu and Leah Heimuli grabbed another 8-0 victory for the Seasiders (22-0) on court two. Michelle Li Sha Khoo and Jeong-Min Jeon of BYU-Hawaii topped Sadie Westberry and Mary Corbin of Shorter 8-1 to complete the sweep of doubles.
Heimuli put the Seasiders within one match of the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Melinda Chrun in singles. Jeon and McKenna Lloyd then finished almost simultaneously with Jeon winning 6-0, 6-0 and Lloyd earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory for the final team points. The remaining single matches were left unfinished.
BYU-Hawaii will return home to host Chaminade Friday at 2 p.m. HST. Live scoring will be available online.
