LAIE, Hawaii – No. 2 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis played strong in a 9-0 sweep Thursday over NCAA Division I Colgate at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
The Seasiders (15-0) defeated their Raider (4-6) opponents 8-1 on the top two doubles courts to get out to a strong start. Jeong-Min Jeon and Michelle Li Sha Khoo faced a stiffer test on the final doubles court, but were able to outlast Lauren O'Brien and Kirstie Woodbury of Colgate 8-6 for the doubles sweep.
Xin (Summer) Wen defeated Hannah Fleckenstein 6-0, 6-0 to start BYU-Hawaii off strong in singles. No. 4 Min (Karen) Liu added a 6-2, 6-1 victory over O'Brien. No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang gathered momentum after a 6-4 first set victory to defeat Lauren Hyland 6-0 in the second for the straight set victory.
Leah Heimuli overcame Jordan Williams 6-2, 6-2 for BYU-Hawaii, while Jeon and Khoo each won 6-0, 6-0 to complete the sweep.
BYU-Hawaii will complete last week's postponed match with Chaminade at noon HST or shortly after the conclusion of a match between Southern New Hampshire and Chaminade Friday morning.
