LAIE, Hawaii – No. 2 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis moved to 10-0 after defeating Dominican University 9-0 Monday at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Xin (Summer) Wen started the match with an 8-0 win on the first court for the Seasiders (10-0). Michelle Li Sha Khoo and Jeong-Min Jeon teamed up for the first time in No. 2 doubles and added an 8-1 victory over Brooke Briseno and Skyler Schaar. Hailey Daniels and McKenna Lloyd followed suit, winning their match 8-1 against Dominican's Lauren Gollnick and Solveig Karlsen to give BYU-Hawaii 3-0 lead.
No. 2 Zhang and Wen each defeated their Penguin (2-4) counterparts 6-0, 6-0 to secure the Seasider victory. After a narrow win in the first set, No. 4 Min (Karen) Liu bested Briseno in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Leah Hemuli reversed Liu's patter in a 6-0, 6-4 win over Alex Wartenberg on court four. In the last two matches, Khoo defeated Cori Beeby in a 6-1, 6-0 match and Jeon swept Gollnick 6-0, 6-0 in No. 6 singles.
BYU-Hawaii will host Chaminade Friday at 2 p.m. HST at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
