SUNNYVALE, Calif. – No. 2 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis continued its road trip with a 9-0 sweep of Dixie State and a 6-0 sweep of Notre Dame de Namur on Monday.
"We were wonderfully hosted by [Notre Dame de Namur]," BYU-Hawaii head coach Dave Porter said. "We played well and I feel like it will benefit in our preparations for Sonoma [State] tomorrow. It was also fun to play Dixie against one of my former assistants, Eric Pelton."
The Seasiders (8-0) were victorious in doubles play, recording 8-0 wins on all three courts against Dixie State (4-9) to take a 3-0 team lead.
Nannan (Dallas) Zhang defeated Karolin Kukaras and Min (Karen) Liu conquered Lacey Hancock, each in 6-2, 6-0 matches. Jeong-Min Jeon overcame Laura Hartle in her 6-0, 6-2 match, while Jade Griffin played a 6-2, 6-1 match over Samantha Yacano. Shu-Ying (Suzie) Hsieh and Kanela Adamson both shut out their Red Storm opponents with perfect double-bagels.
The Seasiders followed up playing four singles matches against Notre Dame de Namur (0-2). All matches played resulted in perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins for BYU-Hawaii.
Jeon overcame Lauren Newman in No. 1 singles, while Griffin beat Steph Normantas in No. 2 sinlges. Adamson defeated Alley Martinez and Chiung-En (Jojo) Wu was victorious over Gabby Reyes.
Notre Dame de Namur (0-2) did not have players for No. 5 and 6 singles, giving default wins to BYU-Hawaii.
The Seasiders will play next Tuesday at No. 26 Sonoma State at 10 a.m. PDT.
