Seasiders soar past Golden Eagles into finals

SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 3 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis shutout No. 22 Cal State L.A. 5-0 in the PacWest Championship semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis Complex.

No. 1 doubles pairing Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Min (Karen) Liu defeated Golden Eagles (10-9) Nozomi Matsuoka and Sonia Landeros in an 8-1 match. Another 8-1 victory came from No. 21 partners Marietta Tuionetoa and Jin Jin (Leah) Han against Alexandra Makashov and Iris Raileanu. Seasiders (29-1) Jade Griffin and Kanela Adamson finished doubles play with an 8-4 win over Victoria Vo and Elizaveta Sokolova.

Tuionetoa played a 6-3, 6-2 singles victory versus Sokolova. Jeong-Min Jeon's 6-2, 6-2 match over Makashov grabbed the win for BYU-Hawaii and all other matches were unfinished.

The Seasiders advance to the finals to play Academy of Art at 2 p.m. MST at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
