Lady Seasiders advance with sweep of Hawks

SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 3 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis swept Holy Names University in a 5-0 match to start the PacWest Championship tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis Complex.

No. 1 doubles Nannan (Dallas) Zhang and Min (Karen) Liu defeated Hawks (16-7) Jessica Ho and Leticia Vieira 8-0. An 8-2 win came from No. 21 partners Marietta Tuionetoa and Jin Jin (Leah) Han against Lexi Bevins and Chelsea Smithback. Jade Griffin and Kanela Adamson played an 8-0 match over Mariel Bautista and Amaru Hernandez to keep the Seasiders (28-1) up.

Griffin and Jeong-Min Jeon both won their singles matches 6-1, 6-0 and all other matches were unfinished as BYU-Hawaii took the win.

The Seasiders advance to face the winner of Azusa Pacific and Cal State LA in the semifinals tomorrow at 2 p.m. MST.
