Lady Seasiders bounce back with victory over Vikings

LAIE, Hawaii - No. 4 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis bounced back with an 8-1 win over Cleveland State University on Thursday afternoon at the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.

Victoria Bensimon had to retire in a 6-2, 3-0 match to No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang to start the Seasiders (16-1) off ahead in singles. No. 6 Min (Karen) Liu defeated Mathilde Orange in a 6-0, 6-4 competition.

No. 10 Marietta Tuionetoa pulled out a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Ellen Folkers. Jade Griffin defeated Jana Schober 6-3, 6-1, while Jin Jin (Leah) Han and Kanela Adamson each had 6-1, 6-1 victories over their Vikings opponents.

No. 3 nationally ranked pairing Liu and Zhang overpowered their challengers 6-2 to start off doubles play. Tuionetoa and Han also had a 6-2 match over their Cleveland State opposition to continue the Seasider reign. Jeong-Min Jeon and Adamson put up a fight, but fell 6-2 to give the Vikings their lone victory.

BYU-Hawaii will play Academy of Art on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.
