Seasiders continue to roll with two more sweeps

LAIE, Hawaii – No. 4 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis remained undefeated with back-to-back 9-0 sweeps over Dominican University of California and Hawaii Hilo on Monday at the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.

No. 10 Marietta Tuionetoa defeated Gianna Cupo 6-1, 6-1. Jeong-Min Jeon and Kanela Adamson both "double-bageled" their Penguin opponents in singles.

Hailey Daniels extended the Seasider lead over Kelly Zwicker in a 6-3, 6-4 match. Another 6-0, 6-0 victory came from Marissa Pereira who beat Mackenzie Flanagan from Dominican University. Chiung-En (JoJo) Wu won her match by a forfeit due to lack of players from the Penguin team.

Tuioneatoa and Jin Jin (Leah) Han defeated the Dominican duo 8-0, while Wu and Jade Griffin also defeated their opponents 8-0. Daniels and Pereira won by default to sweep Dominican.

Han defeated Hawaii Hilo's Trixie Croad 6-2, 6-1, while Jeon defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0 to put the Seasiders on top. Griffin beat Rachel Sugiyama 6-0, 6-1.

Adamson beat Chanelle Piliwale-Wilson 6-1, 6-1 and Wu beat her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Daniels finished the singles sweep by defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-1.

Both duos of Tuionetoa and Han, and Jeon and Adamson defeated their opponents 8-1, while Wu and Daniels finished off the last doubles in an 8-3 victory.

Seasiders return to the court on Wednesday against Old Dominion at 2:00 pm HST in the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.
