LAIE, Hawaii – No. 4 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis continued its strong play in a 9-0 sweep of Hawaii Hilo on Friday at the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.
The No. 3 nationally ranked pairing on Min (Karen) Liu and Nannan (Dallas) Zhang defeated their Vulcan competitors 8-1 on the first doubles court to begin the day. Marietta Tuionetoa and Kanela Adamson then partnered for an 8-2 victory on the second court and the tandem of Chiung-En (JoJo) Wu and Jade Griffin shutout their Hilo opponents 8-0 in the final doubles match.
Jeong-Min Jeon defeated Hilo's Trixie Croad 6-1, 6-2 on the first singles court. Griffin "double-bageled" Bianca Novotna on the second court. Adamson kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rachel Sugiyama of Hawaii Hilo.
Wu topped Shanise Kaaikala 7-5, 6-2 on the fourth singles court. Hailey Daniels defeated her Vulcan counterpart 6-3, 6-3 and Marissa Pereira saw her first action of the year in a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
The Seasiders will stay home to take on the Vulcans in one more match on Monday at 9 a.m. HST.
