LOS ANGELES – No. 4 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis continued its hot streak with a 9-0 sweep of No. 23 Cal State Los Angeles on Wednesday at the CSULA Tennis Complex.
No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang took care of business on the first singles court defeating the Golden Eagles' Nozomi Matsuoka 6-3, 6-0. No. 6 Min (Karen) Liu claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory over CSULA's Sonia Landeros on second court, while No. 10 Marietta Tuionetoa added a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Iris Raileanu.
The Seasiders' Jeong Min Jeon defeated Elizaveta Sokolova 6-2, 6-2 on court four. Jin Jin (Leah) Han continued BYU-Hawaii's momentum in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alexandra Makahov. Jade Griffin rounded out the 6-0 sweep of singles matches with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Victoria Vo.
In doubles competition, the No. 3 nationally ranked pairing of Liu and Zhang defeated the Golden Eagles top pairing of Matsuoka and Makashov 8-3. Tuionetoa and Han claimed an 8-2 triumph over CSULA's Landeros and Raileanu. Griffin and Chiung-En (JoJo) Wu won 8-3 on the third doubles court over Sokolova and Vo.
The Seasiders will take on No. 17 Azusa Pacific in Azusa, California, Thursday at 12 p.m. PST.
