Lady Seasiders defeat second consecutive ranked opponent

COSTA MESA, Calif. - No. 4 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis continued their winning streak with a 9-0 sweep of No. 11 Vanguard University on Tuesday afternoon.

No. 6 Min (Karen) Liu started singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sarah Edwards. No. 2 Nannan (Dallas) Zhang played a 6-0, 6-1 match versus Gabriele Alford. No. 10 Marietta Tuionetoa had the only "double-bagel" of the day in her competition against Ashley Wao-Udin.

Two more 6-1, 6-0 wins came from Jeong-Min Jeon and Jin Jin (Leah) Han over their Lions competitors. The last singles match was a 6-2, 6-3 victory by Chieng-en (JoJo) Wu against Nataliya Yamkova.

No. 3 pairing Liu and Zhang shut out the Lions in a quick 8-0 match. Tuionetoa and Han overpowered their challengers in an 8-1 match. An 8-2 win by Wu and Jade Griffin closed out doubles play.

The Seasiders will play at Cal State Los Angeles at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. PST.
