Women improve to 10-0 with 7-2 win over No. 16 APU

AZUSA, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2014) - Facing No. 16 Azusa Pacific, the No. 2 BYU-Hawaii women's tennis team came away with a 7-2 win over the Cougars on Thursday.

The Seasiders took two of three doubles matches and all but one singles to secure the win and improve to 10-0 this year.

Nannan Zhang won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Marietta Tuionetoa won at No. 2 6-3, 6-2.

At No. 3, Min (Karen) Liu defeated Danae Ingwaldson 6-4, 6-2 and Marika Kobayashi had a hard-fought 3-6, 7-5, 10-2 win in No. 4 singles.

Jeong-Jin Jeon won at No. 6 6-3, 6-1 but Sasha Ulbrichtova came up short 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in her No. 5 match.

In doubles, the team of  Kanela Adamson and Jade Griffin fell 8-4 at No. 3,  but in No. 2 Liu and Zhang registered an 8-3 win and Tuionetoa and Kobayashi won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4.

BYU-Hawaii will play Fresno Pacific on Saturday in California.
