SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Sydney Eddy scored the lone goal of the game to lead BYU-Hawaii women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Dominican University of California to conclude its season.
Eddy headed in a cross in front of goal to give BYU-Hawaii (7-8-2, 6-6-1 PacWest) the advantage it needed to secure the victory in the 29th minute. She recorded another shot on goal along with Mackenzie Moore.
BYU-Hawaii's goalkeeper Jaylie Jensen (5-6-1) recorded a shutout with two saves on Dominican's (7-6-4, 6-4-2 PacWest) two shots on goal.
The Penguins accumulated a total of 11 shots total compared to the Seasiders' eight.
After scoring her seventh goal of the season to give BYU-Hawaii the lead, Eddy had another opportunity to score just a minute later but the ball sailed wide.
The offenses fell flat in the start of the second half but each team recorded several fouls in the first few minutes. Eddy and Moore had opportunities to score in the 61st minute but their shots were both off the crossbar to keep the one goal margin.
The Penguins lone chance to equalize came in the 81st minute when Yvette Lozano was able to find space and put a shot towards goal, but Jensen grabbed the ball to preserve the shutout.
