Seasiders meet HPU in non-conference match

LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii women's soccer looks to get its first win of the year when they host cross-island rival Hawaii Pacific on Saturday at 3 p.m. HST.

Hawaii Pacific

  • Last Season the Sharks went 9-9, 6-7 PacWest on the season and finished 7th in the conference
  • The Sharks are 0-2 to start the season after falling to California State University-Dominguez Hills 0-3 and to Occidental College 0-2.
  • Sara Romo returns for the Sharks after leading the Sharks with 7 goals in the 18 games played last season.
  • The Sharks are led by Gina Brewer who leads the Sharks in her 6th season as head coach and has a 44-34-9 record with the Sharks.

BYU-Hawaii

  • The Seasiders finished 6-9-3, 5-6-2 PacWest last season affording them the 8th spot in the conference ranking
  • Seasiders enter the 2016 campaign 0-2 losing 2-0 to both Cal State Dominguez Hills and Occidental.
  • The Seasiders return starters Kristine Behrens and Kala Brundige who were vital in the success of the team last season and welcome newcomers like Ole Miss transfer Sydney Eddy and Hanna Faber.
  • The team is led by Dan Dummar in his first year as the Women's head coach after being the assistant coach in the 2014 season under the direction of Mark Davis.
