LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii women's soccer fell 1-0 in overtime to Academy of Art on Monday at the BYU-Hawaii soccer field.
Kate Gurney led all players with three shots, two of which were on goal. The Seasiders (0-4-1, 0-1 PacWest) finished with 13 total shots, holding the Urban Knights (3-4, 2-0 PacWest) to three.
After an assist by Aliya Salas, Academy of Art's Kendall Bozart put the ball over the keeper's reach in the 104th minute to end the game.
Brena Jarvis attempted to start the scoring in the 20th minute, but a defensive save by Academy of Art's Caina Field left the game scoreless.
Gurney had an opportunity to score five minutes later, but keeper Morgan Wirz saved the shot.
The second half became physical with several fouls and few scoring opportunities. Shots by Natalie Lewis, Kristine Reynolds and Natalie Reynolds were all caught by the Urban Knights' keeper, sending them into overtime.
BYU-Hawaii will play Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. HST. Live stats will be available online.
