Women’s team drops opener to Hilo 1-0

LAIE, Hawaii (Sept. 7, 2013) – The BYU-Hawaii women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to the University of Hawaii at Hilo on Saturday afternoon.

The Seasiders got nine shots off to the Vulcans six but Hilo got a bounce off the cross bar from a shot to knock back in for the only goal midway through the first half at the 24th minute.

Keeper Megan McCain deflected the first shot from the Vulcans but a second off the ricochet snuck past her to the back of the net.

The game was physical and defensive with the muddy weather conditions. Brittney Crump got four shots off including one on goal but it wasn't enough for the Seasiders.

BYU-Hawaii won't have to wait long for redemption as the girls will now visit Hilo on Sept. 12 for a rematch on the big island at 12:30 p.m.
