Women's basketball signs Taryn Skahill

LAIE, Hawaii (April 18, 2014) – BYU-Hawaii head women's basketball coach Craig Stanger announced the signing of Taryn Skahill, a 6-foot-2 post player out of Hendrickson High School as the first signee for the 2014 recruiting class.

"We are excited to have Taryn become a Seasider," Stanger said. "She had a lot of opportunities to compete at the next level with several institutions and thrilled she chose BYU-Hawaii. She's a very good student, smart and will provide immediate length in the post. She's a freshman that possesses the skill set to contribute early in her career."

Skahill averaged 11.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as a second team All-District selection out of Hendrickson High in Texas. She started playing hoops in the fourth grade and lived in Idaho until she was 16 when her family moved to Pflugerville, outside Austin.

She also will graduate in the top 10 percent of her class as a National Honors Society Member.
