NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2014) - BYU-Hawaii basketball players Scott Friel of the men's team and Whitney Fieldsted of the women's team have earned Finall 5 awards from the Pacific West Conference.
The awards were selected for games played Jan. 13-19.
Friel earned his second consecutive Final 5 honor. He averaged 20.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two games for the Seasiders. He shot 78.9 percent from the field and had 2.0 steals per game as well.
He went off for 28 points vs. Chaminade and logged a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Fresno Pacific.
Fieldsted helped BYU-Hawaii win its first game of the season, hitting the eventual game-winner on a short turnaround jumper in the final minutes at Fresno Pacific.
She averaged 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in two games last week. She tied for a team-high 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals in the Seasiders' road win at Fresno Pacific.
