Women's basketball heads downtown for Oahu Classic

LAIE, Hawaii (Nov. 27, 2013) BYU-Hawaii women's basketball will head down to Honolulu for the Oahu Classic over Thanksgiving, facing off against opponents Lubbock Christian and No. 2 Gannon University, Thursday and Friday.

The Seasiders (0-3) are hungry for victory this Thanksgiving week. Senior Danna Lynn Hooper leads the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game and is shooting an impressive 60 percent from behind the arc.  

Lubbock Christian (4-1) won in dominant fashion last week as they took down Newman University 95-66. Lubbock is led by junior Nichole Hampton who recorded 23 points in the victory over Newman.

Gannon University (4-0) is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Golden Knights recently took down Seton Hill University 80-66.

The Seasiders will first play against Lubbock Christian on Thanksgiving at 3 p.m. and then Friday face Gannon University at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at McKinley High School in Honolulu.
