Grand Canyon too much for BYU-Hawaii

PHOENIX (Feb. 26, 2013)—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women's basketball team lost to 24th-ranked Grand Canyon 90-40 tonight in a Pacific West Conference game road game.

The Seasiders, now 6-17 for the season and 5-12 in the conference, were blitzed by the Antelopes in the first half and trailed 53-19 at the break.

Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo scored 22 points and hit six three pointers to lead the Seasiders in scoring.  She also handed out five assists for the Seasiders.  Shayla Washington added seven points and three steals and Kristen Hartley pulled down five rebounds to go with her four points.

Asha McDonnell had 18 points to lead Grand Canyon, now 22-6 for the season and 14-3 in the conference and in first place.

The BYU-Hawaii women's team will play Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday at 5:00 pm HST in Laie in a Pacific West Conference game that will conclude the regular season.  The Seasiders have already qualified for the inaugural PacWest Conference post-season tournament that will take place at Azusa Pacific next week.
