Seasiders swept by Lancers (Game 2)

LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii softball fell 6-0, 14-1 in a doubleheader Saturday against California Baptist at the BYU-Hawaii Softball Field.

Lizabelle Talataina drove in the lone run of the day for the Seasiders (10-22, 7-13 PacWest) in the second game. Brittany Vasquez went 1 for 2 in the second game with one run.

Caitlyn Lloyd went 3 for 7 with five RBI and a home run for the Lancers (24-7, 18-2 PacWest). Krista Mann also finished 3 for 7 with four RBI. Ashley Coleman (7-2) and Iveth Alvarado (2-0) grabbed the victories for Cal Baptist.

Game two

  • Lloyd scored the first run of the second game on London Miller's sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning.
  • Vasquez led off the bottom of the frame with a walk and stole second. Talataina then brought her home with a double to center to even the score 1-1.
  • Mann doubled to right field to score runners from first and second in the top of the second to give the Lancers a 3-1 lead.
  • Cal Baptist kept the momentum going in the third scoring 10 runs on six hits to take the 13-1 lead.

The Seasiders will have a week of rest before meeting Hawaii Pacific on Apr. 7 at 1 p.m. HST in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Live stats will be available online.
