Seasiders can't keep pace with Wolves (Game 1)

LAIE, Hawaii – Lizabelle Talataina led BYU-Hawaii women's softball with a strong performance from the plate, but the Seasiders fell 9-3 and 11-0 in a doubleheader with Western Oregon Friday at the BYU-Hawaii Softball Field.

Talataina was .500 at the plate with two RBI, two walks and a run scored. Alanna Anders added the first triple of her Seasider (1-7) career and an RBI.

Western Oregon (6-5) was led by Destiny Kuehl's 3 for 7 performance, including four RBI, three runs and a home run. Haley Fabian (2-3) and Sammi Cadwallader (3-0) each earned wins and did not allow an earned run on the day.

Game one

  • The Wolves scored the first two runs of the game off of Zoe Clark's double in the second inning and Kuehl's single in the third to take the 2-0 lead. 
  • Sarah Captain drew a walk in the bottom of the third inning to jump start the offense and Corallee Alexander reached safely on an error. Talataina brought both runners home on a single up the middle and Anderson tripled to right field to score Talataina for the 3-2 Seasider lead.
  • Western Oregon answered in the top of the fourth scoring four runs off of three hits to retake the 6-3 lead.
  • Ashlee Lynch led off the fifth with a solo shot over the left field fence to add to the lead and Chandler Bishop added a 2-RBI double in the seventh for the final runs of the game.
