Seasiders fall to Clan (Game 2)

LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii softball fell 10-4 and 8-1 to Simon Fraser in a doubleheader Friday at the BYU-Hawaii softball field.

Alanna Anderson went 3 for 7 on the day with a run and an RBI to increase her hitting streak to four games to open her freshman season. Lizabelle Talataina added her second home run of the season after going 2 for 5 with four RBI and reaching base in both games. Sarah Captain went 3 for 4 at the plate with four walks and three runs scored for the Seasiders (0-4).

Taylor Lundrigan hit .750 for the Clan (2-0) with four RBI a double and a home run in the doubleheader. Tori Belton (1-0) and Alia Stachoski (1-0) earned victories from the circle combing to allow four earned runs on the day.

Game two

  • Lundrigan started the scoring for Simon Fraser in the second game with a single up the middle to score Kendra Goodman from second.
  • Taiana Williamson (0-2) was strong in the circle for BYU-Hawaii allowing one hit over the next four innings.
  • The Clan were able to break the game open in the sixth as Katherine Murnaghan sparked a 2-out rally with an RBI double down the left field line. They went on to score three more runs to make it 5-0.
  • After Simon Fraser added three more runs in the top of the seventh, Captain singled up the middle and advanced to second on a wild pitch to put a runner into scoring position. Anderson then laced a double into the left-center gap to bring her home for the Seasiders only run of the game.

BYU-Hawaii will host Simon Fraser again in a doubleheader Monday beginning at 1 p.m. HST. Live stats will be available online.
