HONOLULU (Mar. 8, 2014) - The rain in Laie moved BYU-Hawaii softball's doubleheader to Sand Island in Honolulu but the Seasiders came up short in both games, 6-0 and 5-2 to Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday morning.
Game one was a pitchers' duel heading into the fifth inning and a scoreless tie. Pitcher Taylor Alvarez had allowed just two hits heading into it but a liner over the head of Rebecca Mawson in right led to an inside-the-park homer for the Argonauts to get on the scoreboard 1-0.
Notre Dame de Namur added a traditional homer with a runner on in the top of the sixth to make it 3-0.
BYU-Hawaii's Madeline Johnson broke up the no-hitter with a single to center but the Seasiders couldn't bring her around, dropping game one 6-0.
In game two, BYU-Hawaii struck first with two runs in the top of the first.
The Argonauts got one back in the top half of the second with the second homerun of the day for the visiting catcher.
Notre Dame de Namur got a two-out two-run double to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the third, adding two more in the top of the seventh to make it 5-2.
