LAIE, Hawaii (Mar. 1, 2014) - Despite a last minute change to play in Laie due to weather concerns, the BYU-Hawaii softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader to Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.
Game one got away from the Seasiders early in an 11-0 loss in five innings.
HPU scored three runs in the first inning to jump out in front, aided by some unfortunate errors. The Sea Warriors tacked on three more in the second inning and added on in the third and beyond to make a comeback tough.
BYU-Hawaii had runners on the first, third and fourth but was unable to cash in to get on the board.
The second game was a better showing for the Seasiders, with Taylor Alvarez going all seven innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out three in a 4-0 loss. She also went 1 for 3 at the plate.
The Sea Warriors managed three runs on just one hit in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead and stay out in front for the duration.
The Seasiders threatened with two on in the bottom of the fourth but came up short.
BYU-Hawaii will host Holy names on Tuesday.
