Cross Country ready for Regionals

LAIE, Hawaii (Nov. 7, 2013) - The men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's West Regional Cross Country Championships, which will be held Saturday (Nov. 9) at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex.

The Seasider men's team is coming off an overall fifth place finish at the Pacific West Conference Championships in California last week. The women's team took an overall fourth place finish in the same event.

Kami Dixon took the top spot for the women with a 5K finish in 18:33.3 for 14th overall. She earned Second Team All-Conference honors for the finish.

On the men's side Kevin Miller finished the 8K race in a time of 26:53.7 to finish fifth and earn First Team All-Conference honors.

Both teams have competed well all season and are looking to make their mark in the region with solid performances at the event.

The regional will determine which five men's teams and women's teams return to Spokane to compete in the NCAA Division II national meet Nov. 23.  In addition to the team qualifiers, the top three men's and women's individuals not on one of the qualifying teams also will earn a spot in the national meet.

The Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the Spokane Regional Sports Commission are co-hosts for the event.

Women are up first with a 6K run at 10:30 a.m. PT and the men will run a 10K at 11:30 a.m. PT.
