ROME, Ga. – No. 27 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis swept Shorter 5-0 Friday at the Walt Attaway Tennis Complex to move to 16-5 on the season.
Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo and Simon Guillin rebounded from a rough week with an 8-0 sweep of Mauricio Rancel and Dylan Wood of Shorter (4-11) to give the Seasiders the first doubles match of the day. Chia-Hua Lu and Sterling Galli come out on top 8-4 in No. 1 doubles and Ibrahim Karmadzha and Ian Galli added an 8-4 victory of their own on court two to complete the sweep.
I. Galli recorded his first straight-game sweep defeating Wood 6-0, 6-0 to move within a match of the team victory. Guillin took the clinching point over Mason Barnette with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court four, while the remaining singles matches remained unfinished.
BYU-Hawaii will conclude its regular season Apr. 8 against Hawaii Pacific at 11 a.m. HST at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts. Live scoring will be available.
