Seasiders fall to Mountain Lions

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – No. 27 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis fell 6-3 Tuesday to Young Harris at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.

Mateo Besada and Tim Fleerkamp put Young Harris (8-9) on the board first defeating Simon Guillin and Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo 8-4 on the third court. Alex Pavel and Raul Quevedo continued strong for the Cougars taking down Sterling Galli and Chia-Hua Lu 8-6, while Jan-Niklas Graetz and Javier Villar finished the doubles sweep winning 8-4 against Ibrahim Karmadzha and Ian Galli.

Quevedo defeated Guillin 6-0, 6-0 for the first victory in singles followed by teammate Villar with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over I. Galli securing the match victory for the Mountain Lions.

No. 38 Ucelay gave BYU-Hawaii (14-4) its first point beating Young Harris' Alex Pavel 6-3, 6-2 in the second court and Lu followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Fleerkamp. Daniel Tiboldi and S. Galli battled to three sets with Tiboldi coming out on top 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7. Karmadzha and Mateo Besada were also engaged in a close match with Karmadzha grabbing a 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory for the Seasiders' final point.

BYU-Hawaii will meet No. 33 USC Aiken Wednesday at 2 p.m. EDT at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C.
