LAIE, Hawaii – No. 26 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis recorded its second 8-1 victory of the week Friday over Southern New Hampshire University at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
Ibrahim Karmadzha and Ian Galli started the match with an 8-1 victory over Tiago Fernandes and Jeremy Reichentahl of Southern New Hampshire (6-5). Chia-Hua Lu and Sterling Galli added another match for the Seasiders (12-3) taking the first court 8-4. Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo and Simon Guillin finished the sweep of the Penmen in doubles holding off Bas Van Biezen and Xavier Aubron for the 9-7 win.
Fernandes recorded the only point for the Penmen after S. Galli retired early due to an injury. Guillin then recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory before Tsu-Ping Kuang sealed the match victory for BYU-Hawaii with a 6-0, 6-2 victory on court six.
Lu defeated Aubron 6-2, 6-3 on court five and Karmadzha took court four 6-1, 6-2. Ucelay won the first set at court two 6-3 over Ricardo Marreiros, but the two traded games in the second set to move into a tiebreaker. Ucelay took the tiebreaker for the 7-6 (3) match victory.
BYU-Hawaii will wrap up its home stand Tuesday against Cal Lutheran at 2 p.m. HST at the BYU-Hawaii Tennis Courts.
