Four Seasiders named All-PacWest

IRVINE, Calif. - Four members of BYU-Hawaii men's tennis were selected to All-PacWest teams, as the league office announced the awards on Friday.

A combination of national rankings and coach voting determines the PacWest tennis awards and teams. PacWest coaches nominate and select coach and individual player awards. The ITA West Region rankings released prior to the NCAA Championship determine the All-PacWest teams.

Martin Chojnacki, nationally ranked No. 40, was chosen for the All-PacWest singles first-team and fellow Seasider Yevhen Zakharov was picked for the singles second-team.

Chojnacki and Zakharov, No. 20 in the nation, were named to the All-PacWest doubles first-team while Peng Dai and Wei-Feng Lee were selected for the third-team.

Jan Meyer of Azusa Pacific was named PacWest Player of the Year with his 19-1 singles record. He has held the No. 1 national singles slot since March 25 after a straight-set victory over Armstrong's Fernando Bogajo. Meyer is ranked 15th in the nation for doubles.

Hawai'i Pacific's Marko Lenz finished with a perfect 18-0 in singles play and 18-3 in doubles to be awarded the PacWest Newcomer of the Year.

The PacWest Freshman of the Year was CJ Erion from Point Loma. In his first year of collegiate competition he recorded 16 wins and five loses, winning his final six-consecutive matches.

For the third-consecutive year Hendrik Bode of HPU was selected as PacWest Coach of the Year. He kept the Sharks on top with a 21-0 season, a No. 1 national ranking and a third-consecutive PacWest Championship title.
