SURPRISE, Ariz. – BYU-Hawaii men's tennis took third place at the PacWest Championships with a 5-2 victory over Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex.
No. 20 pairing of Martin Chojnacki and Yevhen Zakharov took home the first doubles match of the day 8-1 over No. 19 pairing of Andre Staab and David Milliken of Point Loma. The Seasiders (16-9) grabbed another victory on the second doubles court after Peng Dai and Wei-Feng Lee knocked off Martin Blaho and CJ Erion 8-6. Ibrahim Karmadzhe and Colton Pate finished off the doubles sweep for BYU-Hawaii with an 8-4 victory over James Tenbroeck and Grant Alston.
Karmadzhe took home a 6-2, 6-2 victory in singles, while Dai added a 6-4, 6-4 win to hold off any comeback attempt by the Sealions.
BYU-Hawaii will wait to see if its season will continue with the announcement of qualifying teams for the NCAA Championships.
