PENSACOLA, Fl. – No. 17 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis dropped a 7-2 match to No. 2 West Florida on Friday at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Argonauts' (15-1) top player No. 9 Alex Peyrot defeated No. 39 Martin Chojnacki of BYU-Hawaii (12-7) in a 6-4, 6-4 match. No. 25 Warren Kuhn overtook the Seasiders' Yevhen Zakharov in a 6-4, 6-1 match, while Ibrahim Karmadzhe fell 6-2, 6-3 match against No. 31 Kenny Brasil.
Wei-Feng Lee grabbed the only singles victory for BYU-Hawaii in a 7-6, 6-2 win over Pablo Borrero. The Seasiders' Taylor De Hoyas and Peng Dai fell to their Argonaut opponents 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4, 7-6 respectively.
No. 20 doubles partners Chojnacki and Zakharov upset No. 1 doubles Kuhn and Elio Latella in a 9-7 match. Dai and Peng fell to their competitors 8-4 and the Argonauts finished the day with a win over Karmadzhe and Colton Pate.
The Seasiders return to the court against Delta State in Pensacola, Florida, on Saturday at 9 a.m. EDT.
