Seasiders claw past Tigers

PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 18 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis defeated No. 23 University of West Alabama in a 6-3 match on Wednesday morning.

The Tigers' top player Adam Drysdale overcame No. 43 Martin Chojnacki in a 6-2, 6-4 match. No. 40 Yevhen Zakharov played a 6-2, 7-5 win over Andrii Stratiienko. Ibrahim Karmadzhe conquered Manuel Grossmann 6-2, 6-1.

A 6-3, 6-0 win by Wei-Feng Lee over Casper Schuetze kept the Seasiders (12-5) ahead. Taylor De Hoyas fell 6-3, 6-0 to Christopher Wood. Peng Dai finished singles play with a 7-6(3), 6-1 victory over Nicolai Jochamowitz.

No. 6 Chojnacki and Zakharov lost an 8-6 competition to the Tigers. Dai and Lee defeated their West Alabama competitors 8-3. An 8-4 win by Colton Pate and Karmadzhe ended doubles play.

BYU-Hawaii will face Spring Hill College on Thursday at 3 p.m. EDT.
