Seasiders drop close match to Cougars

COLUMBUS, Ga. – No. 18 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis fell 5-4 to No. 6 Columbus State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Columbus State tennis courts.

No. 43 Martin Chojnacki tightly contested 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 battle to No. 16 Oussama Zoghlami. No. 40 Yevhen Zakharov suffered a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 defeat to No. 34 Adi Malicbegovic. Ibrahim Karmadzhe gave BYU-Hawaii (11-6) a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over Benedikt Wilde and Wei-Feng Lee played a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Marco Almorin. Taylor De Hoyas fell 6-4, 7-5 and Peng Dai closed out singles play with a 7-6, 6-2 loss.

No. 6 pair Chojnacki and Zakharov shut out No. 11 Malicbegovic and Almorin in an 8-6 match. Dai and Lee overcame the Cougars (11-1) in an 8-5 competition. The Seasiders lost the match as Colton Pate and Karmadzhe fell 8-4 on the third doubles court.

BYU-Hawaii will face the University of West Alabama on Wednesday at 12 p.m. EDT.
