ATLANTA – No. 18 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis took home its second victory on the East Coast with an 8-1 win over Shorter University on Saturday.
No. 6 Martin Chojnacki and Yevhen Zakharov started the Seasiders (11-5) off with an 8-5 victory over the Hawks' Louis Tourtois and Alexis Catillon. Peng Dai and Wei-Feng Lee crushed Arthur Amat and Patrick Sanders 8-3 on the second doubles court. Colton Pate and Ibrahim Karmadzhe took home the final doubles win against Robert Watson and Talha Surmawala with an 8-4 victory.
No. 43 Chojnacki won in a close 4-6, 7-6, 1-0(5) match against Tourtois on the first singles court. No. 40 Zakharov defeated Catillon 6-1, 6-1 on court two. Surmawala recorded the lone victory for the Hawks defeating the Seasiders' Karmadzhe 2-6, 7-6(5), 1-0(6).
Lee topped Amat on the following court with a score of 6-4, 6-1. Taylor De Hoyas defeated Patrick Sanders 3-6, 6-0, 1-0(9) and Peng Dai obliterated Robert Watson 6-0, 6-1 to round out singles competition.
BYU-Hawaii will continue its road trip in Alabama to take on Tuskegee on Monday at 10 a.m. EDT.
