LAIE, Hawaii - No. 18 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis lost a 7-2 match to No. 4 Emory University on Friday afternoon at the BYU-Hawaii tennis courts.
The only Seasider (9-5) singles win of the day came from No. 43 Martin Chojnacki over No. 4 Alex Ruderman in a 6-2, 7-6(5) match. Ibrahim KarmadzhE lost a 7-6(3), 6-3 competition to No. 13 Eric Halpern. Wei-Feng Lee fell 6-2, 7-5 to No. 29 Rafe Mosetick. Taylor De Hoyas suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to No. 30 Ian Wagner. Peng Dai put up a fight, but was unable to overcome Josh Goodman in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 match. A 6-3, 7-6(4) loss came from Colton Pate to Roberto Bazzarella to finish singles play.
No. 6 Chojnacki and Zakharov suffered an 8-6 defeat to No. 5 Ruderman and Wagner. Dai and Lee had the only BYU-Hawaii doubles win over Emory in an 8-3 competition. Pate and Karmadzhe lost an 8-6 match to close out doubles play.
The Seasiders head to Georgia to play Emmanuel College next Friday at 7 a.m. HST.
