BYU-Hawaii falls to HPU 5-0 in semifinals

SURPRISE, Ariz. (April 18, 2014) - The fourth seeded BYU-Hawaii men's tennis team fell in the semifinals of the Pacific West Conference Tennis Championships to top seeded Hawaii Pacific 5-0 on Friday.

The Seasiders (12-6) will play in the third-place match tomorrow against Point Loma.

HPU swept the doubles competition to start the match. First doubles partners Yevhen Zakharov and Martin Chojnacki fell 8-5 and second doubles Wei-Feng Lee lost 8-1. Ibrahim Karmadzhe and Taylor De Hoyas also came up short 8-4 as the third doubles matchup.

The fifth and sixth singles matches also went to the Sea Warriors. Peng Dai was defeated 6-2, 6-2 and Ian Galli lost 6-1, 6-1.
