Men's tennis challenged but beats Point Loma 5-4

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2014) - The No. 19 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis team got a good test today vs. Point Loma but edged out the Sea Lions 5-4 in California.

BYU-Hawaii took one of the doubles matches but four singles to earn the victory.

No. 2 doubles partners Dai Peng and Wei-Feng Lee defeated Kaptan Kaster and Martin Blaho of Point Loma 8-6 to get the point. Yevhen Zakharov and Martin Chojnacki fell 8-5 at No. 1 and Ian Galli and Ibrahim Karmadzhe came up short 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

The Seasiders made up ground in singles however, with Chojnacki winning No. 2 singles 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and Karmadzhe winning 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot.

Zakharov lost No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-4 but Peng won at No. 5 6-4, 6-1 and Taylor De Hoyas defeated his opponent 6-3, 7-6 in No. 6 singles.

BYU-Hawaii will play Azusa Pacific tomorrow as it continues its California road swing.
